Magazines and advertising learner response

1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).
Did You Revise CSPs??

2) Read through your answers again. Write down the mark you achieved for each question:

Q1:0
Q2:0
Q3:0
Q4:1
Q5:1
Q6:1

3) Write down five magazine cover conventions. Look back at the original notes if you need help.
Title of publication
Slogan
Central Image
Colour scheme
Cover Line

4) Look at the mark scheme for this assessment. Question 3 asked you to write about how the CSP magazine covers persuade the audience to buy the product. Copy two bullet point answers for Reveal magazine and two bullet point answers for Tatler magazine from the mark scheme that you didn't use in your original answer.

REVEAL
.The price in the top third is bold and looks like a pound coin which
connotes the cheapness of the product.
.The quotes from reality television stars use controversy (‘sex’ and ‘jail’
and ‘stalker’) to hint at the exciting stories inside.
TATLER
.The use of Serif font for the title gives the word ‘Tatler’ a more regal,
formal and sophisticated appearance which reinforces the magazine’s
brand identity as upper class and associated with style and elegance.

.The setting is blurred which makes it look exotic and uses an outdoor
location juxtaposed with the glamorous outfit of the model.

5) Look at the mark scheme for Question 5 on the NHS Represent advert. Write down three of the people in the NHS Represent advert (include both their name and what they are famous for) and why they subvert the stereotype for gender or race/ethnicity.
a)Lady Leshurr is one of the famous person who is cast in this advert and she is famous for being a rapper, singer, and producer
b)Chuka Umunna is another famous person who was cast in this advert and he is famous for being a British Labour politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Streatham since 2010 and was Shadow Business Secretary from 2011 to 2015.
c)Nicola Adams is a famous person who was also cast in this advert and she is famous for be a female boxer – Olympic medal winner.

6) For Question 6, read the exemplar answer in the mark scheme. Re-write your own answer to Question 6 making sure you include all three advertising CSPs: OMO advert, Galaxy advert, NHS Represent blood campaign.

In the 1950s women were represented in adverts as housewives, the proof for this is the OMO advert this is because in the OMO advert the woman is represented in the cleaning product yet she does not mind about her job.

NHS Represent subverts stereotype by featuring strong, black and Asian role models and by using famous popular people like a black female rapper Lady Leshurr .They also reinforces stereotype by featuring rap music video format.Another way how this reinforces stereotype is by footballers and sport being associated with black race.  The OMO advert quoted ‘brightness’ and ‘whiteness’. This reinforces the stereotype of women as faultless and upstanding human being. Women are also being treated as a housewives and a pet to their husband despite the fact that women still do appreciate the role they have.

Whereas in the Galaxy advert, men are treated as a pet to the women this is because in the Galaxy advert the woman took the bus driver's hat of and put it on the car driver and sat at the back and made the men drive her.
