Reception theory
THE PREFERRED
The
preferred reading of the media text is trying to tell us that young people are
bad and that they create violence just for other peoples entertainments whereas
old people are vulnerable, innocent, weak and unsteady.
THE OPTIONAL
The optional reading of the
media text is trying to tell us that old people can be as bad as young people
whereas if young people get a chance to have an opportunity to change they can
be good.
The Harry Brown trailer positions the audience
to view the teenage characters as a negative point of view and to make them
look naughty and most of all dangerous. This is because the teenagers in
the trailer the teenager are shown with weapons in their hand therefore this is
showing that they are violent and dangerous.
Young people may reject this reading and construct an opposition reading of this trailer because they may take the scenario as the younger people are being misunderstood in the trailer.

The preferred reading of this advert is meant to persuade people to buy it and eat it. This is shown on the advert and it is produced in a nice way the egg and cheese are framed in a good way and the fact that the quote says this Big Mac is a meal disguised as a sandwich this is telling us by buying just one of this can full fill our stomach.
The oppositional reading of this advert is that this can cause fat to people so there for not many people would buy it and not many people would think it might be nice despite the fact if they are vegetarian.
